Introduction to the Fabric Expansion Joints

Fabric expansion joint is made by sewing multiple layers of high-performance materials. It can be used in power plant flue ducts, boiler flue duct inlet and outlet, dust prevention vents in cement plants, and waste-to-energy power stations, etc. It has the functions of high-temperature resistance, acid and alkali resistance, fire resistance, anti-tear, anti-aging, and sealing.

Types of fabric Expansion Joints

1.Suitable for high-temperature working conditions

If you only need to work in high-temperature environments, like in a cement factory,you can choose high temperature fabric expansion joints with silicone. Its temperature resistance range can be within 1000℃, and it can resist aging, seal, shockproof and be wear-resistant.

2. Suitable for high-temperature and acid-base resistant conditions

If your working environment contains acidic gases and the temperature is very high, you can choose the main type of fluorine(FKM) rubber expansion jiont.

3.Suitable for working conditions with strong acidity and low temperature

If the working environment you require is one where the gas has strong corrosiveness, such as sulfur dioxide, and there is also water accumulation, then you can choose this fluorine-based(FKM) material expansion joint. Its water resistance and acid-base resistance can meet your desired requirements.

Composition of Cabric Expansion Joint Material

1.Silicone rubber coated fiberglass fabric :

It is made by using high-strength glass fiber cloth resistant to high temperatures up to 550℃ as the base fabric and high-performance organic silicone rubber. It is compounded through special processes by coating or pressing. It is a new type of high-performance and multi-purpose composite material product. Its temperature resistance can reach 280℃. Silicone rubber coated fiberglass fabric can play the roles of fire prevention, high-temperature resistance, sealing, wind pressure resistance and anti-aging within the fabric expansion joint.

2.FKM rubber coated fiberglass fabric :

It is made by combining a high-strength glass fiber base cloth with a fluorine-containing polymer that is resistant to corrosion. It is produced through the calendering process. Its function in the fabric epansion jionts is to withstand high temperatures, resist acids and alkalis, be waterproof, resist wind pressure, and resist aging.

3.fiberglass fabric :

It is made from raw materials such as quartz sand and limestone. After being melted, it is drawn into glass fiber yarn and then woven into a fabric. It can play roles such as high-temperature resistance, anti-tear, fire prevention and insulation in fabric expansion joints.

4.PTFE cloth :

This product is made by impregnating glass fiber fabric with polytetrafluoroethylene emulsion, and then through drying and sintering processes. It endows it with the high-temperature resistance and high-strength properties of glass fiber fabric, as well as a series of excellent features such as insulation and anti-sticking of polytetrafluoroethylene.

5.Ceramic fiber cloth :

It is made by weaving ceramic fibers (mainly aluminum silicate) with reinforcing yarns. Its long-term temperature resistance can reach 1000℃, and for short periods, it can exceed 1260℃. In the fabric epansion joint layer, it mainly plays the roles of high temperature resistance, wear resistance, high strength, and anti-pressure. It is a necessary material for high-temperature resistant products.

Application Scenarios

Fabric expansion joints are mainly used in the smoke and air ducts of thermal power plants, thermal power stations, steel mills, cement plants, etc., as well as in the desulfurization and denitrification pipelines, absorption tower smoke ducts, and dust removal system devices, etc., at their entrances and exits.
